
Contractor Code Of Ethics
Duty to Amplified Clients:
1. Fairness and Integrity – I will be fair, honest, impartial, respectful, and professional, and act in good faith in all my business relationships with clients, the public, employees, subcontractors, and suppliers.
2. Client Interests – I will always act in the best interests of the client unless doing so violates a law, statute, or this Code of Ethics.
3. Non-Discrimination – I will not discriminate in any business activities on the basis of race, national origin, religion, gender, sexual orientation, familial status, or handicap. I will comply with all federal, state, and local laws concerning discrimination and fair housing.
4. Truthfulness in Representation – I will be truthful regarding my training, experience, qualifications, and services. I will be truthful regarding my licenses, certifications, bonding, and insurance coverage, and will provide documentation upon request.
5. Competence – I will accept only assignments and projects for which my skills and licensing are commensurate.
6. Compliance with Laws and Regulations – I will uphold and comply with all governing codes, government and municipal statutes, rules, and professional licensing requirements of the jurisdiction in which I conduct business, especially those related to safety.
7. Public Safety and Quality – I will not engage in any practices that could be damaging to the public, including providing or promoting any building materials, products, or techniques that are known to me to be defective, substandard, or likely to cause harm. If such knowledge relevant to the project comes to my attention after contract execution or project commencement, I will notify all relevant parties and take immediate mitigation efforts as appropriate. I will strive to promote high-quality and safe building materials, products, and techniques.
8. Warranty and Accountability – I will provide a timely and appropriate response to all items and workmanship covered under warranty.
9. Financial Integrity – I will use generally accepted accounting principles in all financial transactions and reporting.
10. Fair Competition – I will not engage in deceptive practices or any practice that creates an unfair advantage for my company or any other party. I will compete fairly for projects and contracts and disclose any conflicts of interest with the client or any party to the project.
11. Transparency in Compensation – I will not accept or provide any undisclosed commission, rebate, profit, or other benefit to any party to the project, including for referrals. I will negotiate fairly and openly with clients for reasonable compensation, charging fees and expenses that are reasonable and commensurate with the services and materials provided.
12. Written Contracts – I will use written contracts that specify the services to be performed, limitations of services, and expenses and fees, and will adhere to both the letter and the spirit of such contracts.
13. Confidentiality – I will respect my client’s right to confidentiality regarding financial and other details, except where disclosure is required for the advancement and completion of the project, affects the safety of others, or violates a law or statute.
14. Timely Obligations – I will meet all financial and contractual obligations in a timely and responsible manner.
15. Conflict Resolution – Should conflicts arise, I will seek to resolve disputes through negotiation, mediation, or arbitration with an impartial third party before resorting to litigation.
Duty to the Industry:
1. Professional Integrity – I will uphold the integrity and dignity of my profession and will not engage in any practices that could bring discredit to the construction industry.
2. Reasonable Profit – I will seek to make a reasonable profit, but not at the expense of safety or workmanship.
3. Professional Standards – I will uphold the conventions of my profession and provide services in a professional and workmanlike manner.
4. Compliance with Laws – I will comply with all laws and regulations governing the practice of my profession in my jurisdiction.
5. Continuous Improvement – I will strive to engage in professional training, stay updated with professional development, and remain informed about news, notices, and recalls that affect my industry and clients.
6. Ethical Practices – I will not knowingly violate any law, statute, or regulation in the performance of my professional services.
7. Reputation of Others – I will not maliciously or recklessly injure, or attempt to injure, the professional reputation of others.
8. Safety and Quality – I will engage in ethical business practices that prioritize safety and quality above all else.
9. Environmental Stewardship – I will strive to be a good steward of the environment in all my business and contracting practices.
